Lightning

Texas is one of the worlds most active hot spots for lightning thanks to its location on the Gulf Coast. And the Houston area is the lightning center of Texas, according to Texas A&M University. Read your inspection report to what is suggested you do to help protect yourself.

ARE YOU LUCKY?

WHEN THIS ONE HITS YOU WILL KNOW IT.

LIGHTNING 1/3RD MILE AWAY CAN CAUSE A HOUSE FIRE.

DO YOU HAVE UNBONDED GAS LINES?

Dangers of Lightning and Indirect Strikes

It does not have to be a direct strike to burn your house down. Lightning a 1/3rd of a mile away can cause damages and fire especially with some gas lines. Texas experiences twice as many cloud to ground lightning strikes as the next closest state (Florida).

Lightning can heat the air as high as 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit and may carry as much as 1,000,000 volts.

One lightning strike can carry enough electricity to power over a million homes for one month according to Duquesne Light. Area lightning, power surges and dirty power can significantly affect all electrical systems, parts and components that use electricity. Some parts and components of a structure may be more conducive to lightning and newer research and professional inspection reports may reflect what those are.
