Legionnaires Bacteria and HVAC Systems

HVAC contractors do not really know the health dangers of the systems they install. If they refute this then I'm calling them out. One of the worst bacterial problems with AC systems can be Legionella and this stuff is nasty. I won't even mention the mold problems.

You see I become an expert in Legionnaires bacterial pneumonia. You don't need a medical degree. I caught it in 2018. Legionella is a federally reportable condition. I was the first case in the county that they can remember and I woke up from passing out more than once as they were shipping me off to the UTMB Galveston campus. Ask me about 3 weeks in ICU and then to the rehab hospital. They weren't sure of what to do except follow the standard procedures for pneumonia and administer powerful antibiotics. I had a flurry of daily doctors and residents, full flow oxygen and twice daily blood tests. I even went deaf! Later I surprised the rehab hospital and cut 2 weeks off their planned treatment. I learned to walk again and was walking the hospital floors three times a day to help heal my lungs and learn to breath on my own.

Summer is a great season for bacteria and pneumonia. The weather changes and bacteria increases especially in fairly new tight built homes and vacation homes. In the Houston mero area there are homeowners have had to move out of their recently built homes homes due to mold causing unknown sicknesses in children. A subdivision in League City where builders always erroneously claim is the toughest city in Texas to build a house in has been of special concern. You drive through subdivisons and see storage containers on driveways where the homeowners are storing many of their things. Empty homes. Toughest city huh? They approved the construction and mechanical work that caused the move outs. This affects other local builders as well but we don't have the benefit of news articles to refer to.

Vacation or part-time homes are very susceptible to bacteria and mold growths to exacerbate health problems. It's termed "vacation syndrome" and we will explain it to you as we know it.

When we inspect with you we share our knowledge of HVAC systems in hot/humid climates which may shock some. Most have no idea. HVAC systems are out-of-sight, out-of-mind until trouble hits then it gets expensive very fast.

All my reports are a continuously vast improvement over the bare minimum standard of others who only rely on checkboxes and neglective reporting as their work comes from sales agent. The industry calls them Checkbox Chimps as they only learn from and copy each each other in the troupe. There is no comparison of our reporting skills and who we represent - you.

Please don't shoot the messenger.
